Union State plans to launch project for senior citizens

Plans are in place to hold a meeting of senior citizens of the Union State "We are for active longevity" in Vitebsk, the press service of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia told BelTA after a meeting of the Commission on Labor, Social Policy and Health of the Parliamentary Assembly in Nizhny Novgorod.

"The members of the Parliamentary Assembly got acquainted with the Union State project on bringing together senior citizens of the Union State ‘We are for active longevity’. The proposal to prepare the project was adopted at a meeting of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Pskov on 4 September 2023. The estimated number of participants is 250 (125 from each state). Vitebsk will be the host city," the press service said.

The meeting is scheduled to run for three days. The goal is to share best practices and initiatives to implement national strategies in the interests of senior citizens and active longevity. "The MPs stated that the Labor and Social Security Ministry of Belarus is currently formalizing a budget application to finance the event from the Union State budget. The Commission on Labor, Social Policy and Health of the Parliamentary Assembly will continue to monitor the project," the press service added.
