Lukashenko, Putin hold phone talks

The presidents of Belarus and Russia held a telephone conversation on 4 November. Aleksandr Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin discussed a wide range of issues, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The top-priority issues included the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, the situation around Belarus and Russia, and also inside the two countries. “As far as infection control was concerned, the two leaders discussed vaccine production in Belarus, transfer of Russian technologies and technological process for this production. This proposal of the Belarusian leader was supported by his Russian counterpart,” the press service said.

The two presidents also discussed the world situation, in particular, the situation in the United States and Belarus' neighboring countries: Poland, Lithuania and Ukraine.

The leaders focused on the topical issues on the domestic agenda of Russia and Belarus.

Other issues included the transshipment of Belarusian goods from the Ust-Luga port, military-technical cooperation.

The two presidents talked over the start of negotiations on the supply of hydrocarbons - oil and gas - to Belarus next year. “The heads of state agreed to solve all issues in the area promptly. The Belarusian president also addressed his Russian counterpart with a request for a possible acquisition of an oil field in Russia. Vladimir Putin supported this idea. The issue will be discussed in more detail during the nearest negotiations” the press service informed.

Aleksandr Lukashenko informed his Russian counterpart about the connection of the first unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant to the country's power grid, and thanked for cooperation.
