Lukashenko visits Belarusian State University

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko is paying a visit to the Belarusian State University (BSU), BelTA has learned.

The head of state is set to chair a meeting to discuss key issues related to the university's activities. The president will also receive a report on the role of BSU in the country's higher education system, the state and prospects of the university's development.

BSU is a large educational, research and production center. In accordance with the updated Education Code of Belarus, the university has started training specialists in 68 specialties of bachelor's degree programs, 7 specialties of continuing education programs, 48 specialties and 78 profiles of master's degree programs since 2023.

There are more than 24,000 undergraduate and graduate students, including about 4,000 foreigners from 62 countries.

BSU has the status of an accredited scientific organization. The university has 20 doctoral and one candidate council for thesis defense.

The university develops international activities, implements 566 agreements with universities and organizations from 59 countries, and runs 12 joint educational programs.
