Anton Smolski wins 20km Individual silver at 2022 Beijing

Belarusian biathlete Anton Smolski claimed silver in the Men's 20km Individual at the 2022 Beijing Games. This is the first medal for Belarus at this year's Olympics, BelTA has learned.

Leader of the Belarusian men's biathlon team Anton Smolski started 28th and shot clean to clock 49:02.2. France's Quentin Fillon Maillet finished first, with two penalties, in 48:47.4. Bronze went to Johannes Boe of Norway, 31.1 seconds back with two penalties.

This is the first Olympic medal for the Belarusian men's team since 2010. In Vancouver 2010 Sergey Novikov also took second place in the individual race, sharing silver with legendary Norwegian Ole Einar Bjoerndalen.

Today, Belarusian biathlete Mikita Labastau finished 47th, Dzmitry Lazouski 58th, Maksim Varabei 86th out of a total of 92 biathletes.

On 7 February, Belarus' Dzinara Alimbekava finished 5th in the Women's 15km Individual.
