Mezentsev: Security councils of Belarus, Russia instructed to launch work on Union State security concept

“The decision of the Supreme State Council to order the Security Councils of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus to launch work on the Union State security concept was very important today,” Dmitry Mezentsev said.

In his words, the Military Doctrine of the Union State has been recently adopted. “We have repeatedly stressed that the western borders of Russia and Belarus, as the states united by the Union State Treaty, should be reliably protected. The measures taken by the presidents of our countries, especially recently, taking into account an unprecedented set of challenges and threats, are among the conditions that will be taken into account in the formation of a comprehensive large-scale document. It will also be developed taking into account the recently adopted concept of information security,” the State Secretary of the Union State said.

According to him, the meeting participants confirmed the special tone, trustworthiness, allied nature of the interaction, and a special feature of the leaders' cooperation. “This meeting and dozens of other events of the Belarusian-Russian interaction are the basis for millions of Russians and Belarusians to feel confident, to make joint plans, to see a joint future within the framework of sovereign and independent Russia and Belarus, and also within a common space of the Union State from Brest to Vladivostok,” Dmitry Mezentsev stressed.

He also noted that serious progress had been achieved in the implementation of 28 Union State programs. “We see figures of the trade, which confirm both deep mutual economic integration and the development of new production chains, and the removal of those bureaucratic administrative barriers, which were a certain obstacle to the expansion of large-scale trade and economic interaction,” the State Secretary of the Union State said.
