Belarus, Russia adopt migration policy concept

10:02, 5 November

The migration policy concept was adopted during the online meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State on 4 November, BelTA has learned.

The document defines the areas of activities of the internal affairs ministries, state security bodies, border services and foreign policy migration departments, taking into account the new realities caused by the increase in migration flows.

“The relevance of the document can also be proved by the recent developments on the border between Belarus and the European Union, to which the country responds with composure and professionalism,” said State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev.

The migration policy concept provides for joint counteraction to security threats and ensures partnership in the interests of citizens in labor and employment.

“The adoption of this document and the approval of the Union State Council of Ministers at the next meeting of the plan for its implementation through 2025 will be a key condition for the formation of a common migration space in the Union State,” said Dmitry Mezentsev.
