Senator calls for working out strategic model of Belarus-Russia interregional interaction

Natalya Kochanova said: “We have to try to look beyond the horizon, work out effective solutions in response to the challenges that await us in the future. It is necessary to create our own strategic model of interregional interaction and tap into the positive experience of the Soviet Union and other countries without reservation. Our agenda is no reaction or self-analysis but the achievement of national interests and joint movement forward. I suggest getting down to putting together a document dealing with long-term forecasts and the planning of interregional cooperation between Belarus and Russia within the context of the Union State of Belarus and Russia as single transregional interintegration space. Concrete measures and steps can be stipulated by annual programs, which local government and self-government bodies can work out during panel sessions and which can be passed during plenary sessions of the forum.”

Everyone knows the priorities of joint work for the near future: unconditional fulfillment of decisions of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Belarus and Russia and agreements of the leaders of the two countries, the speaker of the upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament underlined.

Natalya Kochanova said: “First of all, it is necessary to focus on accelerating the fulfillment of the guidelines on implementing the Union State Foundation Treaty in 2021-2023 and 28 Union State programs. Strengthening economic and technological sovereignty, manufacturing cooperation, import substitution and specialization, creation of new growth points, interregional trade and development of transport and logistics corridors, unlocking of human potential, elevation of the status of the Union State of Belarus and Russia as a subject of international relations are tasks of paramount importance.”
