As part of the talks held online, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) and the Trade Representation of the Russian Federation in the Kingdom of Morocco discussed topical issues of exchange trade with the countries of North Africa and identified promising areas of cooperation for 2024, BelTA learned from the BUCE press service.

German Puzyrny, deputy head of the BUCE foreign economic activity department, suggested considering the possibility of using the transit potential of the Belarusian exchange platform by Russian companies in contact with the Trade Representation. According to him, it was Russian residents who were most active in transit exchange transactions last year and this year.

“The amount of transit contracts concluded by Russian bidders in 2023 exceeded $12 million. In January-February 2024, this figure already approached $1 million. The range of goods involved in transit trade is wide and includes industrial equipment, furniture, building materials, textiles and much more. Deliveries are made both between the regions of the Russian Federation and to third countries,” German Puzyrny said.

Prospective areas of cooperation include the use of business relations and information resources of the Russian Trade Representation to attract companies from Morocco and other states of the North African region to the exchange trade, as well as BUCE assistance in promoting the products of Belarusian enterprises in the Moroccan market, including by organizing online and offline events for representatives of local businesses.

“The Moroccan market has a number of characteristic features that should be taken into account by Belarusian exchange traders. In addition to the already outlined areas of cooperation, we are ready to provide consulting support on issues related to calculations, logistics, customs clearance and product certification. I am confident that our experience and expertise will be useful to the enterprises of Belarus,” Alexey Andreev, Head of the Trade Representation of Russia in Morocco, said.
