On 25 December, the head of state will take part in a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in St Petersburg, BelTA has learned.

The agenda of the summit includes more than two dozen items, which, among other things, relate to key areas for the further development of integration processes in the EAEU, international activities, macroeconomic policy, work to remove barriers, reduce exemptions and restrictions in the EAEU internal market.

On 26 December, Aleksandr Lukashenko will take part in an informal meeting of CIS leaders.

Speaking at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Moscow on 25 May 2023, Aleksandr Lukashenko supported the need to identify approaches to the formation of a new strategy of Eurasian integration until 2030, or even 2045, initiated as part of the Russian presidency.

Aleksandr Lukashenko warned against excessive enthusiasm for strategic planning. “At least, this useful work should not cancel or replace the practical activities to implement the goals and objectives of the EAEU Treaty, which are already being carried out by the member states and the Commission. In general, there are a lot of specific issues that need to be addressed. They are on the surface,” the Belarusian leader said. “Creating a genuine economic union remains a priority task for all of us. Everyone notes progress in this matter but I stick to my previous position: there must be no barriers or restrictions whatsoever! It is the underlying principle for building our union and we should reach the goal very soon.”

In his speech at the Moscow summit Aleksandr Lukashenko also said that the response to the sanctions is closer cooperation with the SCO, BRICS and ASEAN, new trade agreements and constructive and mutually beneficial contacts with everyone who is ready to be our friends and partners.” The potential of the Eurasian Economic Union enables it to become one of the full-fledged and responsible centers of the new multipolar world.
