Belavia to fly home Belarusians stranded in Moscow's Vnukovo

Belavia will fly home about 100 Belarusians who have been stranded at Vnukovo airport in Moscow , Transport and Communications Minister Aleksei Avramenko told the media, BelTA has learned.

“About 100 people are waiting for departure at Vnukovo airport as of today. Belarus has a plane ready to go to Moscow and take them home to Belarus,” Aleksei Avramenko said.
“We are planning to send a plane today. We are coordinating our actions with the Russian side,” he added.
As BelTA has reported earlier, on 18 March, Russia closed borders to foreign nationals, including citizens of Belarus, over the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak. Yet, it has allowed transit through Moscow airports Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo providing that citizens do not leave the transit zone and fly to Belarus within 24 hours. However, most Russian flights from the Asia-Pacific region arrive at Moscow's Vnukovo airport which currently has no direct flights to Minsk.
