A business match-making session involving entrepreneurs from Pskov Oblast and Stavropol Krai of Russia will be held online on 30 June, director for foreign economic cooperation of the Brest Office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI) Elena Pivnik told BelTA.

The BelCCI invites Belarusian business people who are interested in cooperation with Russian partners to take part in the event. The B2B contact fair is meant to help businesses find new customers and partners, to identify new areas of cooperation and make presentations of their products and services.

“This contact fair is meant for businesses across a broad spectrum of industries. Usually such meetings are based on mutual interest of participants. One should not expect such negotiations to result in contracts. The meeting is first of all about sharing ideas and exchanging proposals, meeting potential partners, discussing new industry trends. In other words, businesses introduce themselves to each other. After that, they will be able to continue their communication directly,” she said.

Several Belarusian light industry companies have already sent their applications to take part in the contact fair. These are garment and footwear businesses. Applications were also received from a Pskov boat company and a company selling products for fishing and hunting, as well as an agricultural company specializing in potato production.

The time frame and schedule of the talks will be finalized on the eve of the event. All the contacts that are needed to submit an application can be found on the website of the Brest Office of the BelCCI.

According to the department for foreign economic contacts and investment of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee, the trade between Brest Oblast and Stavropol Krai exceeded $3.8 million in January-April. The major exports of Brest Oblast are food products (sausages, fish, cheese and cottage cheese), furniture and gas stoves. The region's trade with Pskov Oblast over this period was $816,000.
