The Belarusian automobile engineering company BelAZ has shipped three batches of haul trucks to the consortium in charge of developing the coal field Erdenes-Tavantolgoi, the Belarusian company's press service told BelTA.

The 130-tonne BelAZ trucks are designed to work in extreme climate conditions of the Gobi Desert. Erdenes-Tavantolgoi is located in the south of the Gobi Desert and represents one of the world's largest coal reserves (6.5 billion tonnes). About 40% of the deposit is high-calorie coking coal.

According to the press service, Mongolian customers are familiar with the BelAZ brand and have a lot of experience of using and maintaining Belarusian haul trucks. BelAZ trucks have been sold to Mongolia since the 1970s. Large batches of trucks were shipped every year in the last five years. In 2019 alone 35 haul trucks were shipped to Mongolia.

At present over 200 BelAZ vehicles are used in mining operations in Mongolia. BelAZ-7513 is the most popular haul truck series. Negotiations are in progress on shipping another large batch of vehicles: haul trucks, loaders, bulldozers, and dust control sprinkler vehicles.
