Union Stamp to Spread Around the World

15:43, 30 December

This year is an anniversary one for the Union State: the Treaty Establishing the Union State was signed twenty years ago. Both Belarus and Russia are holding expert forums and scientific conferences dedicated to the alliance. Besides that, the residents of Belarus and Russia have received one more gift: now they can send a letter with a Union stamp. The correspondent of the Union State portal have visited the Bobruisk Integrated Printing House named after A.T. Nepogodin, where they printed an artistic miniature picture.

We were welcomed by Vladimir Pasko, Head of the Printing House. He noted that the stamp was of special importance for him as his family lives in two countries: he is in Belarus, while his daughter is in Russia. So, the stamp was being made with great reverence.

“The stamp is a difficult-to-make one. It required responsibility and scrupulousness,” said Vladimir Pasko. “The manufacturing process of any stamp is time-consuming. First, we process files, make printing samples. Sometimes we have to do it more than once if we cannot get the desired color. Only then we start printing”.

The postal block “Twentieth Anniversary of Signing of the Treaty Establishing the Union State” consists of two stamps. On a golden background there are the coats of arms and flags of the two countries.

The Head of the printing house says that stamps are checked at each stage of the manufacturing process. All miniature pictures should have identical colors, no roughness or scratches. Otherwise, it is a faulty work. The manufacturing process involves some exquisite workmanship: these are special punctures on the stamps.

The mail block has been printed in small quantity: only 20 thousand copies. We have also made a special grill with the cancellation date. Philatelists and collectors will be hunting for such copies, believes Vladimir Pasko.

The layout for the Union stamp was developed by “Marka” Publishing Center. The artistic miniature picture can spread around the world as the “P” stamp denomination corresponds to the tariff for sending international correspondence (letters, parcels, small packets) up to and including 20 g.

“We think we have succeeded. It is not the first stamp we made to mark a special occasion. For example, when Daria Domracheva won the Sochi Olympics, we also issued a stamp. We also make stamps for the Eurasian Economic Union, the CIS,” said Vladimir Pasko.

Bobruisk Integrated Printing House named after A.T. Nepogodina RUE is one of the oldest printing houses in Belarus. The most advanced and latest technology involving the use of special paints and materials are employed to produce the output. Moreover, the company applies special software for reliable protection against counterfeiting, some of which has no analogues in Belarus and the CIS countries. The enterprise can manufacture up to 50 varieties of stamps per year.
