Lukashenko off to Mongolia on state visit

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has left the country to go to Mongolia on a state visit that will last through 4 June, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian head of state is expected to arrive in Ulaanbaatar in the evening on 1 June. A representative Belarusian delegation made of members of the government, heads of enterprises, organizations, and business circles has already arrived in the Mongolian capital. They have started negotiations with their Mongolian colleagues.

Official negotiations with Mongolia President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh will take place in Ulaanbaatar in a narrow format and an expanded one. The two leaders are expected to discuss promising avenues of cooperation for the sake of fully exploring the potential of Belarus-Mongolia relations. The negotiations will primarily focus on opportunities for expanding interaction in trade and economy, shipments of the food products and industrial goods made by Belarusian enterprises to Mongolia, joint work in the field of agribusiness.

The parties are expected to sign a number of documents as a result of the negotiations. The documents will reinforce the foundation of bilateral cooperation. Aleksandr Lukashenko will also get familiar with the history, authentic traditions and customs of the people of Mongolia.

A Belarusian-Mongolian business forum will take place in Ulaanbaatar in parallel with events of the state visit. During the forum representatives of the business circles of both countries will be able to become better acquainted with each other’s capabilities and discuss practical matters in specific fields.
