The international security architecture is falling apart, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich said at a solemn graduation ceremony at the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, BelTA has learned.

“Today is a truly momentous day not only for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but also for the entire country: the national security system has welcomed another group of officers who will help maintain law and order. This ceremony brings back the memory of my own graduation ceremony that took place 35 years ago when I was also given lieutenant shoulder straps and a diploma of the military school. I thought that all the hardships were in the past and that I would have a wonderful life ahead. Indeed, life is just beginning for you, but the hardest part, comrade officers, is ahead of you. The most important thing for you is your country, you should be up to people's expectations when fulfilling the tasks assigned to you. The teaching staff, the administration of the academy, members of the faculties and courses have done a great job passing everything they know on to you, the rest depends on you,” Aleksandr Volfovich said.

“The military and political situation is very complicated, including along the border of our country. Today, the international security architecture is falling apart, unfortunately. There is a serious confrontation between East and West, and Belarus is in the eye of this storm. And the political situation in our country largely depends on the ability of our system to maintain law and order,” Aleksandr Volfovich said. “You are the core of this system and you must ensure law and order. People expect this from us. People want our country to remain safe and peaceful. It largely depends on you, your professional skills, competencies, efforts and determination,” he stressed.

“This educational institution trained many people who now serve in all corners of the country, perform their tasks and have earned people's respect. It is worth a lot. I think you will join these ranks and will also help fulfill the most difficult tasks related to ensuring law and order, preserving peace, and maintaining the rule of law in the country. The most important thing is your loyalty to your country and your people. And I am sure that you possess these qualities: professionalism, dedication, faith in what we are doing. I want to wish everyone great health, success, strength and will, and not to rest on your laurel. To be a true professional means constant self-improvement, self-training, therefore, you need to find time to hone your skills. You will succeed!” he said.

This year, 37 of cadets graduated with honors, 12 of them were awarded a gold medal. Among them are also graduates included in the national data bank of gifted youth, six fledgling researchers acknowledged by the special fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the support of the talented youth, and, of course, successors of the police dynasties. All in all, 359 newly-minted officers graduated from four faculties (public security police, criminal police, investigative police and penitentiary system). Attending the graduation ceremony were senior officials of the Security Council of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, various government agencies that will employ graduates of the academy. Young officers will serve in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Defense Ministry, the Investigative Committee, the State Forensic Examination Committee, the Financial Investigations Department, the State Control Committee and the State Border Committee.
