Belarus-Russia army exercise Allied Resolve 2022 kicks off on 10 February

The first stage of checking the response forces of the Union State of Belarus and Russia was in progress in Belarus till 9 February in line with the decision of the two heads of state.

The Belarusian-Russian army exercise Allied Resolve 2022 will be held during the second stage on 10-20 February. Units of Belarus' Armed Forces and units of the Eastern Military District of Russia's Armed Forces will practice suppressing and repelling external aggression in the course of a defensive operation, countering terrorism and protecting the interests of the Union State.

In addition to the military training area Brestsky the troops use the training areas Domanovsky, Gozhsky, Obuz-Lesnovsky, and Osipovichsky. There are plans to use the airfields Baranovichi, Luninets, Lida, and Machulishchi. The number of military personnel and the amount of military hardware deployed for the exercise covered by the 2011 Vienna Document on Confidence- and Security-Building Measures do not exceed the thresholds that require notification.

According to the Defense Ministry, more than 150 journalists representing Belarusian, Russian and foreign mass media have been accredited to cover the exercise. For the first time, Belarusian bloggers and public opinion leaders have been invited to report on the drills.

On 12-19 February, the Defense Ministry will arrange three media tours to the areas where the drills will be held. On 12 February, Belarusian and Russian journalists will visit the Gozhsky training ground. In accordance with the concept of the joint operational exercise, the troops will practice repelling enemy attack in an ambush area set up by guard and reconnaissance units of the enemy. After that, the Belarusian and Russian troops will practice maneuver defense with the support of aviation and artillery and undertake a counterattack by the army reserve in the area of ​​enemy penetration.

On 15 February Belarusian and Russian journalists will visit the Polessky area. A combat launch of the tactical operational missile complex Tochka is to take place there. Combat launches will be carried out as part of fire operations by the missile forces.

On 19 February foreign, Belarusian and Russian journalists will visit the Obuz-Lesnovsky training ground where a defensive battle at a maneuverable line of defense will be staged. The battle will end with a counterattack with a tactical airborne landing behind enemy lines with the support of aviation and artillery throughout all stages of the battle.
