We need to cut out middlemen between Belarusian suppliers and Russian retail groups, Belarus’ Ambassador to Russia Aleksandr Rogozhnik said as he met with Oryol Oblast Governor Andrei Klychkov on 11 February, BelTA has learned.

“Last year we started cooperating with Russia’s major retail groups, such as X5, which unites a number of retailers, and with Auchan. Our task is to start concluding direct contracts between producer and seller in order to eliminate intermediaries that can account for up to 30% of a product price,” the ambassador said.

"It will ultimately be good for the purchasing power, making products cheaper for consumers and ensuring a wide choice of high-quality goods in stores. Thus the Belarusian products will be able to compete on an equal footing with Russian products," Ambassador Aleksandr Rogozhnik added.
