The West's pressure on Belarus and Russia is increasing, and only together can the countries respond to this effectively, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Minsk on 21 June, BelTA has learned.

“Further progressive development of Eurasian integration is of great importance. So are joint steps to overcome the consequences of instability in the international economic system in a new complex geopolitical reality. The pressure of the collective West on the individual EAEU member states is increasing, and it affects all members of the union. Our economies are closely linked, so it is only possible to effectively respond to unfriendly steps together. The main task is to minimize the impact of sanctions on citizens and strengthen macroeconomic stability. New initiatives are being actively discussed by a special high-level working group,” Mikhail Mishustin said.

According to the Russian head of government, today's priority is to ensure food security, import substitution and industrial cooperation. It is necessary to continue working on creating favorable conditions for business in the EAEU member states. It is also important to expand the use of national currencies in the EAEU settlements and implement the EAEU climate policy.
