Belarusian parliament speaker to participate in BRICS forum in St. Petersburg

As part of the Belarusian parliament’s delegation Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko and Chairman of the International Affairs Commission Sergei Rachkov will take part in the 10th BRICS Parliamentary Forum in St. Petersburg, Russian Federation on 11-12 July. The forum will focus on the role of parliaments in strengthening multilateralism for just global development and security, the press service of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus told BelTA.

 

Igor Sergeyenko is expected to deliver a speech during the plenary session on the topic of the role of parliaments in counteracting the fragmentation of the multilateral trade system and in overcoming the threats stemming from consequences of global crises.

During the forum, the speaker of the lower chamber of the Belarusian parliament will also have a number of bilateral meetings with heads of foreign delegations in order to discuss topical matters concerning interparliamentary interaction.

The 10th BRICS Parliamentary Forum will gather representatives of the parliaments of the BRICS states, as well as representatives of invited states and interparliamentary organizations.

The interstate association BRICS was founded in June 2006. It comprises ten countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Ethiopia.
