Aleinik meets with Kazakhstan’s foreign minister

Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik met with Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu in Astana on 21 May, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, BELTA has learned.

The parties reviewed bilateral cooperation with a focus on its practical aspects. They emphasized the importance of closer cooperation in manufacturing, technology and agricultural industry.

Sergei Aleinik informed his Kazakhstan’s counterpart about plans to launch full-cycle production of cabins for Belarusian tractors at the MTZ-Kazakhstan Machine Building Plant in Kostanay on 27 May, as well as a new production line to assemble tractors and make cabins for small tractors at Kazakhstan Agro Innovation Corporation in Kokshetau on 28 May. The Belarusian foreign minister emphasized that the existing joint production facilities already have the capacity to make up to 10,000 tractors and up to 1,000 combines per year in Kazakhstan, but cooperation potential is much bigger.

The further localization of production of combine harvesters, vehicles and trailers, elevators, agricultural machines and units is a promising avenue of cooperation. The parties believe it is necessary to intensify inter-regional cooperation and educational partnerships. They also discussed the timing and agenda of visits for the current year. The Belarusian delegation thanked Kazakhstan for its support for Belarus’ bid to become full-fledged member of the SCO.

The parties discussed prospects to step up interaction in integration structures - the CIS, EAEU, SCO, CSTO, CICA, as well as further coordination at the UN and OSCE platforms.
