Education is the future of the country, said Natalia Kochanova, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic, authorized representative of the head of state in Minsk, during the opening ceremony of the new building of the gymnasium No. 42 in Minsk named after Zh. I. Alferov, BelTA correspondent reports.

“I am sincerely glad to congratulate you all on a wonderful holiday - the Day of Knowledge. This holiday is traditionally celebrated in our country, and we are all preparing for this wonderful day - parents, teachers, builders, - said Natalia Kochanova. - I congratulate you with one more holiday - Zhores Alferov Gymnasium No. 2 has acquired a new building - beautiful, cozy, comfortable - for the study of our children and the work of teachers. Today you are opening a new page in the history of your gymnasium. This year is special for us - the 80th anniversary of liberation from the Nazi invaders, the 30th anniversary of establishment of the institute of presidency in our country. The education system is a priority in the social policy of our state, because we realize that education is the future of our country”.
“I want to congratulate our first graders. Dear children, study well, and most importantly - make friends, love your teachers and do not upset your parents. We sincerely wish you that this gymnasium has become a good home for you, - said the Speaker. - I sincerely congratulate high school students - those who this year will choose their professional path. Choose the right profession, which will be to your liking. So that you can live, work and study and enjoy it, and do everything to make our country powerful and strong. I sincerely congratulate educators, teachers, educators - all those who will work and are working in such a difficult sphere - the education system, but so necessary for our country”.
Natalya Kochanova presented a certificate for the purchase of an interactive panel to Victoria Korzhik, Director of Gymnasium No. 42.
The gymnasium is located on Ilyanskaya Street and has a capacity of 1,020 students. It has a swimming pool and sports halls equipped with sports equipment, a shooting range. For all-round development of students there is an assembly hall, a computer room, separate rooms for the teacher-psychologist, social teacher, teacher-organizer and the head of military-patriotic education. The medical block and the foodstuffs room are equipped with the latest technology. The territory of the gymnasium is fully landscaped and there are sports grounds for various sports. The priority of the gymnasium is to create a multifunctional educational environment that ensures that each student receives a quality general secondary education, taking into account his or her individual characteristics and needs.
